etsy find: embroidered custom pet portraits by Hoopla

We ♥ these custom pet portraits by Nichole Alvarado of Hoopla. Send her a photo of your pet, she sends you a rough sketch for approval, and then starts to work with needle and thread. These hoops have us in stitches! (Sorry, we couldn’t resist)…

Meet Hiro+Wolf

Say hello to our new friends across the pond — Hiro+Wolf and their gorgeous line of designer dog collars and leashes. The story: founders Amy and Bee met while walking their dogs (Hiro and Wolf of course) in London Fields. Their background in fashion, design, and handcraft is obvious – they bring a freshness to each design and thoughtful quality details — we especially appreciate the leather  reinforcements and sturdy construction, and the geometric designs are  chic without being frilly.

Bonus!

H+W is offering our readers Free Shipping (for a limited time)! Use code SHIPFREE4MODDOG when you check out from their Etsy Shop, and then email us a picture of your pet wearing one of their collars! (Ok, that’s optional, but come on, we want to see pictures…)

dog milk and blanket id team up

Two of our favorites – Dog Milk and blanketID have teamed up to design the Dog Milk Donation by Design Collection — a few swank dog tags, with  smart technology, with proceeds going to benefit some great charities. blanketID tags are connected to your pet’s profile online, you can send their vital information in an immediate ‘Missing Pet’ broadcast to local shelters, animal hospitals, rescues, SPCA locations, and other blanket ID members in your area. You can also print your own lost/stolen pet posters and, when your pet is notified as found using a smartphone, you can receive a GPS map and driving instructions to that location.

We’re diggging the Diamond tags designed by Dog Milk founder and editor of Design Milk, Jaime Derringer, and since geometrics are hot, the Wink pattern  designed by Dog Milk Managing Editor Capree Kimball, is so cute and current.

Even better: $5 from the sale of each and every tag goes to charity (plus, an on-going portion of any membership fees, yes, the blanketID tag system has recurring fees to keep your data online). The charities are: HeavenSent Bulldog Rescue in New Jersey (Diamond tags) and Friends of Animals Utah (Wink tags). Both organizations do great work in bringing awareness to local communities as well as finding safe and loving homes for animals in need.

new collars for high visibility

Here’s a dog collar and leash that might actually make you safer on the road!  If you’ve ever walked the dog on a busy street at night, you’ll get this story –

3 years ago the founder of PupProtector was the victim of a hit and run driver while walking his dog…and in the aftermath he decided to do something about it. Check out a sweet video with more of the story here >  Their solution: ultra-bright lighted LED leashes and collars to help you and your dog be as visible as possible wherever you go together! While we haven’t seen these collars in person, (they are currently in crowdsourcing mode) between the LED lights and the sleek all-weather materials, they look thoughtfully designed and we’re totally digging the light-up leashes!

Find out more and reserve your collar at PupProtector >
